King Tōrmoh /'tɔːrmə/, born Bron Gōdere Geerol Tōrmoh, was the tenth king of Toor. He was succeeded by his son, Tōrmoh II, but when the new king died in an accident, King Tōrmoh took the throne again. He then negotiated treaties with Gaskal and Deeras when both had voiced their desire to secede, thus managing to secure the unity of Toor. Slightly more than 10 years later, however, the serf uprising by Keetoh and Gened resulted in the creation of Commonground and with it - the loss of Toor's control over the land.

King Tōrmoh died some time in the beginning of the 70s SR. It is widely believed that his court not only hid the fact of his death, but also planned on doing so even before the elderly Tōrmoh died. The motivation was to preserve the rule of the dynasty, since after the death of Tōrmoh II there was no consensus on the viable successor. The plot is notable due to the royal family and their servants continuing to claim that King Tōrmoh is alive even after the fall of Chusoh and after it became fairly obvious that the King had died.

Birth into royalty

Tōrmoh succeeded King Modosoh Dolysoh, ending the rule of the Dolysoh dynasty in Tarnaria. This is primarily attributed to extreme long-term scheming by Garees Kormy Geerol Tōrmoh, Bron's mother and the lover of Noana Kaogee, one of the King's female servants. Garees is suspected of organizing the murders of two of Modosoh's children and there is good evidence that she poisoned his wife, thus leaving Modosoh with no heir.

This made Modosoh's brother, Teejody Dolysoh, the next in line for the throne. But Modosoh considered Teejody unworthy for the throne and was outraged at the idea. He attempted to assassinate Teejody, but the attempt failed. Instead, Teejody was able to stage a more successful attempt at Modosoh's life, seriously injuring him. Modosoh then officially ordered Teejody to be executed, while Teejody found unexpected support from some of the military in Hohned. This began a minor war in 1986 FR, known as the Dolysoh Standoff, that lasted until 1989.

Meanwhile, Garees and Noana poisoned Lord Keetoh Skaeooy Borstomoh, a noble from Chusoh. It was rumored that he was in love with Noana and left his estate to her, although Ludoh reports that rumors had a flare of “a bit of a fabrication”:

“Lord Borstomoh was the kind of a boring man whose personal life could not be of less interest to the public. Rumors spread about him through Chusoh felt forced and had a flare of a bit of a fabrication.”

Noana Kaogee was from a wealthy family to begin with. Lord Borstomoh's estate made her one of the richest people in Chusoh. Less then a year later, Noana suddenly passed away, leaving her exorbitant wealth to Garees, virtually unknown to anyone at that point.

Garees, now having access to Modosoh through her financial standing, claimed that Chusoh's Murdoh (governor) was not loyal to the King, but was instead a secret supporter of Teejody. This turned out to be true and he was executed, but Garees proceeded to uncover a deeper conspiracy, bringing Modosoh proof of wider support of Teejody among city officials, while covering up Teejody's supporters among the nobles. This made Garees one of the most important political figures in Toor in a matter of weeks. Impressed by the demonstration of her loyalty, Modosoh installed Garees as Chusoh's Murdoh, while city's nobility was now personally indebted to her. Not only that, but she made it clear to Teejody's supporters that she was secretly on their side.
