ahldorae

Ahldorae

Ahldorae /ældɔː'reɪ/ is a third planet in the solar system Ephius.

Origin of name

The population of the planet is not aware of space and does not call their world anything, so the name “Ahldorae” comes from Astronaut Deb who referred to the planet as “a place full of ahldorae” in his interstellar chat app Peculiar Messenger. When asked what “ahldorae” means, he ignored the question. They were meaning to ask him next time, but unfortunately, due to large distances, the next time they were able to contact him was 90 years later and Astronaut Deb had already passed away.

In the records onboard the space station “Arduous IV”, however, they were able to find a reference to this mysterious entity, but, anticlimactically, the only reference was the same line from the Peculiar Messenger chat log. What Astronaut Deb meant by “ahldorae” remains a mystery to this day.

Geography

Ahldorae is known for its supercontinent. It is relatively flat, with only one active volcano, the Bahria. Bahria is also a city built right over the volcano.

Another large landmass is the Traveling Iceberg, which is a huge chunk of ice that is captured by one of the cold streams in the north. The Traveling Iceberg is slowly growing and it is thought that in about a hundred years it is likely to settle due to its mass.

Finally, to the south of the eastern part of the Continent lies an island called the Nuht island, which is inhabited by the Nuhtbee Collective.

Ahldorae's population exhibits a poorly studied phenomenon, thought to be a blend of DNA mutations and environmental factors, that result in the occasional births of individuals with super powers. Super powers range from incredible strength and being able to wield various forms of energy, to the more exotic ones, such as having a phantom live a full blown life while its counterpart sleeps.

Eternal Companion

The space station “Arduous IV” has been noticed by ahldoraeans since the ancient times as the brightest star in the sky. Because “Arduous IV” is in a geostationary orbit, its position in the sky is constant. The space station is thus known on Ahldorae as Eternal Companion, and is an integral part of ahldoraean religions and cosmology.

No natural satellite

Ahlodrae has no moons. Thus, its nights are much darker than the nights on Gearth.
