Pranl /præŋl/ is a tarnarian alcoholic beverage brewed from cereal grains. While many variations exist, the Udds family is credited for its most popular version that added a sweet fruity taste to the drink. The Udds pranl became so ubiquitous, that very soon it took over the name. Today, only sweet pranls are referred to as pranls, whereas non-sweet variations are called girags.
Pranl remains one of the most popular drinks on the Continent, and is an important source of nutrition for the population. The original pranl is still produced by the Udds family, although they no longer hold a monopoly on the beverage.
